The refuge can be reached by car, the location is very beautiful. I was there one day for lunch with some friends, I must say that the service is not the best, not too kind even if the food on the other hand is good. I don't know if it was because they were very full, but aside from the long waits, the lady who served us wasn't too friendly. The price is not low, but ok, considering that we are in a mountain refuge.
I parked near the refuge with the intention of following the path that leads to the Maniago refuge higher up. After about two hours my legs could no longer support me and I returned to the car. Casera Mela is about 3 km from Erto and has very green lawns and tables outside. I recommend paying a visit, the view alone is worth it. You can combine this excursion with a visit to the Vajont dam, the fatal site of that terrible tragedy.

Beautiful valley that I had never visited before. The refuge is very convenient because you arrive by car...a slightly narrow road. Very nice refuge, the managers are simple, kind people and the dishes are very good. Adequate price. FOR ME 👌
I went there doing the great Val Zemola loop at the end of December. The facility was closed. The outdoor panoramic terrace is beautiful with wooden tables and benches.
Great place to relax while climbing. Solitude in the mountains. There is a fantastic view. There are places to spend the night in a room for 10 people. I don't know if there are rooms for a smaller number. It is possible to taste local dishes. Everything was delicious. For the first time in 1.5 years I tried some really tasty "gnocchi"! There are power outages, so it's good to have a flashlight with you. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. I plan to return.
Mountain refuge easy to reach by car with a beautiful view and starting point for various itineraries such as Cava Buscada and Maniago refuge. We also ate typical traditional Friulian dishes and a good choice of grappas with different herbs and flowers
